Today marks the launch of the IOTA 2.0 public testnet, representing the culmination of years of effort to enhance the infrastructure of the IOTA network. This important upgrade moves away from the conventional Proof of Work system by introducing a novel congestion control mechanism and transitioning to a decentralized Proof of Stake consensus mechanism. The IOTA Foundation’s aim with this update is to create a more secure, scalable, and environmentally friendly network. The new testnet encourages active community involvement in testing and refining the process, paving the way for a successful implementation.
