Ethereum Developers Schedule Anticipated Shanghai Hard Fork for April 12

During the All Core Developers Execution Layer #157 call on Thursday, Ethereum developers announced a target date of April 12 for the much-anticipated Shanghai hard fork, also referred to as “Shapella.” This upgrade signifies the completion of Ethereum’s full transition to a proof-of-stake (PoS) network, and it will finally allow for the withdrawal of staked ETH.

Following a vote by developers and confirmation via GitHub, the April 12 date will be solidified for the Shanghai upgrade. This timeline represents a slight delay from the developers’ initial target of March 2023. However, the rescheduled date will ensure that the Ethereum network undergoes a smooth and successful transition, ultimately enhancing its performance and capabilities in the evolving blockchain ecosystem.
